Pink Poinsetta

I'm really slow this year with making my cards . I developed tendinitis in my wrist from painting so I'm trying to rest it as much as possible to avoid an injection in it. I took on the challenge of painting my living room ,hall and front entrance which I'm very happy with . I made this card several weeks ago so thought I would share it today since I haven't posted for a while . I love white cards but decided to add a touch of color on this one . I sponged white c/s with Spun sugar DI before running it through spellbinders poinsetta die , while still in the die I then sponged with Victorian DI . The branches are IO and leaves are Prima , Merry Christmas is CLD. To finish off I went around the edge with a Viva edging glitter pen .

Winter scene

Just wanted to share a card I made for one of my crafty friends Sharon . We always meet and have lunch around this time of year and exchange a small gift and card . I had picked up a new stencil while I was away doing some Christmas shopping and knew that I wanted to do a winter scene with deer and trees . I sponged over the stencil with Stormy Sky DI and then keeping the stencil in place stamped TH trees in Peeled Paint ,  The deer is TH Reindeer in Flight  die . I added some little birds ( IO die)to the branches of the trees and Martha Stewart glitter to the deer. I cut a piece of white c/s for the snow drift ,sponged the edge with  Stormy Sky DI and added star dust stickles for sparkle. Sentiment is a Cheery Lynn Design die .

Happy Birthday Ava

I know I'm guilty of neglecting my blog recently but Oct. and Nov. have been busy for me . I spend 3 weeks in October in Calgary visiting my son and family . It was such a fun time and with the beautiful weather they were having we spent most of our time outside . My two grand daughters were so excited that I was going to be there for Halloween to go to their school party and dress up with them for trick or treating. Now that I'm back home I decided to give my main floor a face lift so have been painting and cleaning for the past 2 weeks.  In between I did get a chance to make a couple of cards . It's my GD 3rd birthday coming up so here's a card I made for her . She loves to go for ice cream so I found a sheet of paper with ice cream cones on it . The image is a Penny Black stamp with I colored with copic markers and added some stickles for sparkle .

Here's a second card I made with the paper that was left over

Halloween

It's been so long since I've posted anything I hardly know where to start. It was a busy summer and now that things are winding down I have spent a little time back in my favorite space .This week I was getting a start on Halloween cards for my grand kids they always look forward to getting a card in the mail . It's getting harder and harder each year to come up with something different plus try and remember what I sent the previous year LOL.
So my first card I made using the Cricut Cartridge Happy Haunting Love how it came together . All the pieces were cut at 53/4 except for the ghost and cat .

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my card .

There's several challenges this week that calls for things with wings . I used Graphic 45 paper Botancial garden which I've been hoarding for some time and not wanting to cut it . But since a sister is special I decided to make her card with it . I layered it on light blue c/s and distressed the edges for a shabby look . I finally got my TH 's Mixed Media Thinlet dies recently so just had to try them out and can see it will be one of my favorite dies . Butterfly is CL ,stamp from Just Rite stamps and ribbon May Arts. I fussy cut the blue flowers, leaves and blue butterfly and popped them up for dimenision. Star dust stickles were added for sparkle to the flowers and butterfly .

Stella of the Sea (mixed media)

Just popping in today to share a canvas I did my grand daughter Stella who's turning 4 yrs. next week and loves anything to do with Mermaids. I purchased the Prima Doll Mermaid from The Cutting Garden some time ago and just now getting around to using it . I used a combination of paints, inks and paste to create the background . The gems were from my stash . Sand dollar ,star fish and other shells are from one of the beaches here in cape Breton that I go to often to collect shells and beach glass( so additive). I stamped the mermaid image several times and layered her, paper piecing her tail and hand drawing the scales with a marker. I hope she will be surprised when she opens it, just wish I could be there with her for her Birthday but hey Skype will have to do .

Thanks for dropping by ,hoping the sun will shine later so I can do some gardening.

The frame was embossed twice with TH ornamental frame embossing folder and fussy cut out  and layered then painted with Spun sugar distress paint and sponged around the edge with Victorian lace DI.  The flowers were sponged with Squeezed lemon DI and the leaves with Shabby shutters DI. I added some white acrylic paint to the tips of the flower. Stamp is from Just Rite stamps . Lace is TH vintage lace die and the corners are CLD

Birthday flowers

Good morning bloggers just wanted to pop in and share a card I made for a friends birthday coming up . Since spring is suppose to be here thought I'd go with something springy . I started off with a white base for my card then sponged it with Peacock DI ,for the next layer I used Tim's Gothic stencil and following Pameilla Johnson's Faux Embroidery tech . which you can find HERE I applied the stencil  diagonally across the card and then on the other half just sponged over the stencil using again Peacock DI. Really happy with the look. Flowers were made from TH's tattered florals garland and sponged with Salty Ocean DI and Vintage photo DI. Leaves are Prima Marketing. Other dies used are Spellbinders Decorative Labels 22 , Labels 4 and Garden Weave. Stamp is by Penny Black .

12 Tags of 2015 --April

Well I missed March tag simply because I didn't have the stickers that he used on the tag . So this month even though I didn't have all the tools and products Tim used I wanted to give it a try . I'm happy with the result .
The stamp is from Paper Inspirations --Coneflower which I've had for years .
I didn't have any of Tim markers so used Tombow markers . I think I really need to pick up a few of the TH ones since the colors seem to blend much nicer. Didn't have the spritzer either so just misted ove the watered background . The beautiful was stamped in black and embossed with clear EP since all the word dies I have were to big for the area.I did color the butterfly with Stream alcohol ink. The ribbon was dyed with Worn Lipstick and Broken China DI . To complete the tag I machine stitch around the perimeter and added a twine bow .

Happy Birthday

I had some paper left laying on my desk from the anniversary card I made a few days ago so decided to make a Birthday card they always come in handy . The frame .flowers, leaves and lace border as well as the lacy corner were all sitting in my stash . The only new thing I had to cut was the butterflies. So this was a pretty easy card to assemble.

Supplies:
Paper by BoBunny  Madeline collection, Bazille c/s
Dies: TH Ornate frame, TH Vintage Lace , TH Tattered Florals, SB Foliage and Bella Rose , CLD Exotic Butterflies Sm#2, CLD Lacy Corner B165, Prima Metal Leaves Die

I painted the butterfly with Spun Sugar DP heat embossed it with clear EP and layered it on another butterfly which was sponged with Shabby Shutters DI . I like how you see tiny cracks in the paint once it's heated .I then sponged over it with Victorian Velvet DI.

Birdie Darling

Well it looks like we are going to get some more snow today and followed by rain which will make for a another messy day tomorrow to clean up . Thought I'd share a card I started yesterday and finished off today . I love this image which I found on the internet and printed off sorry but I can't remember which site but I do believe it maybe from Graphic Fairy. I purchased a new stencil last week Tim Holtz's Gothic so I used it to make the background. First I went over all the stencil with Victorian Velvet DI then I wanted to try the recipe for homemade paste following Pamellia Johnson's recipe which you can find Here I love it it's goes on so smooth . After the paste was dry I sponged some more Victorian Velvet DI over it to give it more color. I stamped SU French script in Versafine Smokey Grey over the bottom half .  The little bird cage is Memory box and cut out of cardboard then painted with Pewter Distress Paint when dry I covered with clear Crackled paint and  sponge with Pumice Stone when dry . The little birds are a MB die. The flowers were handmade from SB rose creation die and SB Blossom 4 die Leaves are SB Foliage die and TH's Pinecone die .One of my newest dies is TH's Vintage Lace which I used to separate between the top and bottom half of the card . I am really happy with the final result.

Valentines for Grandchildren

Just wanted to share a few Valentines I made for my grandchildren this year . I have 2 GD and 2 GS. Since my Grand daughters are just 2&31/2 I made shaker cards for them . The 31/2 yr. old loves Mermaids so I found a mermaid on Life's a Beach Cricut cart. and thought this would be perfect for her . I glued micro beads to the waves and lots of sequins

This one is for the 2 yr. old who loves little critters

My Grand sons are 10 yr. and 12 yrs. old so I found it harder to come up with something for them . The 10 yr. old love music so I used a guitar stamp that I had for him and for the 12 yr. old I used my new Love Struck die that I purchased recently . Hope them like them .

Thanks for stopping by . We are having a blizzard here again today so I'm spending my afternoon in my favorite room .

Tim's 12 Tags 2015--February

I've had my tag for February made for a week or so but just haven't gotten around to posting so thought I do so before the deadline . It's another stormy day here in NS with blowing snow and high winds . We sure have had our share this past few weeks and I'm so looking forward to spring . I made my collage using papers from Tim's Lost and Found paper pad following his tech. The heart was cut from felt stitched and attached with my glue gun .I didn't have any of his arrows so I cut several out of cardboard and silver cardstock and layered them .I attached one of Tim's charms with wire to the arrow ,added an industrial frame ,some lace and metal Love label which I covered with Picket fence paint and wiped off . The metal done the same . The seam binding ribbon was sprayed with Tea Dye DI and dried.

The Heart has it's Reasons --Quietfire

Since it's such a stormy day I've been spending the afternoon in my craft room playing with my new stamps that I won on Quietfire Blog Hop recently . I was so excited to find out that I had won on 2 of the blogs. I didn't own any of their stamps but always loved what I saw made with them by their Design Team . Here's a card I made today with one of them , I love this verse. The verse was stamped in Versafine  onyx  and cut out with SB Radiant Rectangle dies while still in the die I sponged around the edge with Victorian Velvet DI . I layered this on the largest die from the same set .  I stamped the edges of the pink c/s with TH flourish stamp in CTMH Cashmere and then sponged with Victorian Velvet DI then distressed the edge with my paper distresser. the hearts are Cheery Lynn dies   .The bow was made from seam binding sponged with Victorian Velvet DI . The flower which I made a while ago  was laying on my desk so thought it was the right size for the center of the bow .  Of course I love bling so I just had to add a touch to the hearts.

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge #21

I spent a few hours in my craft room today finishing off a few projects that I had started one of which is a tag I made for the challenge over at Studio L3  CC#12 using Rock Candy Dry Glitter. I had purchase a jar quite some time ago but seldom use it so I thought this would be a perfect time . The challenge is taken from Tim's book Compendium of Curiosities 3 page 55. We are not allowed to give in detail what the technique is . I decided to do another Valentine tag since it's just around the corner. I sponged a Manilia tag with Antique Linen DI and then Victoria Velvet and a little Fired Brick on the edges followed by Tea Dye for a distressed look. I stamped Tim's large flourish in Fired Brick and then followed the tech. on page 55. I really love how it sparkles. I did the same for the cherub which was stamped on red c/s and fussy cut (I ordered this die and am waiting for it to arrive )To  finish mytag I added a piece of cheesecloth(that was laying on my table) behind the heart then layered the love ticket on the heart. The sentiment is from a TH stamp set . The arrow is one of Tim's stickers that I painted gold with gold dabber paint. I also painted the heart the same way.

Altered Box

I've been seeing some many altered things in blogland recently I decided to give it a try . I picked up this box quite some time ago and it was just sitting there in my craft room so I pulled it out and started in . Not sure if I can remember all the steps I did but will try my best . First I removed the hardware and gave the box a coat of Mod Podge then added some cheesecloth and painted over it with white acrylic paint. Next I added modelling paste over TH's Burlap stencil . I set it aside to dry . Once dry I sprayed with  a mixture of broken china DI, victorian velvet DI,and dusty concord until I got the shade I wanted . I added some gold dabber paint over some of the areas for shine . The flowers I made using spellbinders rose die ,burlap heart was cut freehand , and the sentiment was already precut chipboard that I had in my stash. The flowers were placed on TH trellis and one of Tim's key was added to finish my box.
Since one of my friends Birthday was coming up I decided this would be a perfect gift for her since she's a crafter too . Hope she likes it .

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Friday I just wanted to stop in to post another one of my Valentine cards that I finished today . Other supplies used :MB Heart Ensemble,Spellbinders classic scallop hearts, Tim Holtz love struck stamp which I stamp in Fired Brick DI ,embossed with clear EP and fussey cut out (since I don't have the die) To finish off my card I added some tiny rhinestone hearts to the white scallop edge.

Hearts

Now that Valentine's day is just around the corner there's a lot of challenges going on in blog land  focusing on hearts. I took my inspiration for this card from Linda Coughlin on The Funkie Junkie blog. I sprayed a piece of white cardstock with Poison Red Dylusions ink ,dried with heat tool then applied Gold dabber paint to my TH flourish stamp and stamped randomly . I stamped Love definition from Tim Holtz's Love Struck set in black Archival ink and sponged the edges with pumice stone DI. The To My Valentine was stamped with Gold dabber paint on black c/s fussy cut and layered on gold paper then fussy cut again.I sprinkled some gold/white Frantage and embossed with heat tool. The gold heart is a Cherry Lynn Design die cut from gold paper. I added a red glitter heart to the center .I curled the corners slightly and distressed the edges before attaching it to the card base . I wanted some contrast so I stamped a script background in Pumice stone DI and then stamped LOVE in Fired Brick DI randomly . The gold heart was hung with ribbon and added a Love charm .

Tim's 12 Tags of 2015--January

Well we're in a deep freeze here in Nova Scotia this past week and big switch from the mild temps. we had over Christmas with lots of rain .Nice to see a little snow but not liking the cold . Yesterday I Spent some time in my craft room and decided that i would try to do Tim's 12 tags for 2015. Last year I started but only completed 5 of them . Hoping to do better this year and complete them all. Here's my tag for January . I didn't have all of the products that Tim used so improvised with reinkers for the spray and cut glass for the gold glitter on the letters. Chit-chat words were placed on the tag and then covered with Glue n Seal. The numbers were cut out of cardboard twice and layered then painted with black dabber paint and when dry painted covered with embossing paste .I wanted a bit of sparkle so cut some stars and circle from red glitter c/s and added a metal star to the center of the circle. The ribbon was spray with vintage photo reinker diluted with water and dry with my heat tool . I would have like for more of the blue tone to show but overall I like how it turned out in the end.
