Merry Christmas by Stampsmith

I picked up this stamp at the Cutting Garden last year and didn't get a chance to use it . Today I pulled it out and created this card with it . I love working with the Stampsmith photo stamps .  got all my tips for a great stamper Kim Prince many years ago . The image was stamped with Ancient Page Archival ink on glossy cardstock . The trick is to let the stamp sit and relax before removing it this gives the ink time to adhere to the glossy c/s. I then trimmed and framed it with TH's ornamental frame . I ran the background paper through TH snowflake embossing folder and then sanded lightly to highlight the snowflakes a bit. Memory Box Frostyville border was used for the bottom of the card.

Burlap wreath card

It's been way too long since I've posted anything here on my blog so today I thought I'd share one of my Christmas cards that I made over the weekend . I love wreaths made with burlap so I wanted to try one using the Tim Holtz BigZ die . I used Mod Podge to adhere the burlap to craft cardstock to give it some firmness and prevent the burlap from fraying . I used Spellbinders classic circle to cut the circle which I them used the reversed side of the paper for the background behind the wreath. Other dies used to complete my card were Tim Holtz's mini pine trees  and Cheery Lynn Design Merry Christmas die . I added star dust stickles to the tree branches and Viva Pearl Pen Red on the wreath for berries.

My Sheri Crafts Challenge #141--Music

Well here it is Sept. can't believe summer is almost over . I haven't posted much over the past few months but this week I saw a challenge that Sheri Holt posted on her blog so thought I would give it a go . Her challenge is Music. I always wanted to try a piano card so this is what I came up with . The piano shape was cut using a flexable Bo-Bunny rule while I've had for years and seldom use up did come in handy for this card. I used white glossy cardstock for the white keys and scored @3/4" and then highlighted the score lines with a black marker.I used spellbinders tags for the black keys. The flower was made using Spellbinders Rose Creation Die . The music script I printed off the computer and aged with Antique distress ink. Just Rite stamps set Musical Notes Label Twenty completed my card .

Just Rite Friday Challenge #118--Behind the Mask

Well it's time for another great challenge over at Just Rite Stamps again . This time we are to use Masking as a technique. This is what I came up with for the challenge .I stamped the verse first on a peice of white c/s then stamped it again to use as my mask ( I wanted to create a look of the verse in the center of the bouquet). The image was the layered on English Tea Doily by CLD. The butterfly I stamped twice cut out freehand and layered. Flowers were colored with Copic Markers and Glossy Accents was applied to the flowers .To finish my card I used:

Well another month has gone by and it's time to do my tag for April following Tim's tech. Again I didn't have some of the items that Tim used so had to improvise . Here's what I came up with . For my edge I used my Cricut cartridge Art Philisophy from CTMH and cut it out of Grungeboard . Flowers were made from papers from one of Tim's Paper pads with the TH Tattered Pinecone die  . I really love how they turned out . Seam Binding ribbon was inked with a mist I made from Dried Marigold . The metal tag was inked with Broken China Distress paint and then wiped off . If you want to see Tim's tag and take part in this month's challenge you can see it HERE.

Just Rite Friday Challenge #116 CAS

Just wanted to share a second card I made for this weeks challenge over at JRS. I used the stamped set Black Eyed Susan Vintage Labels Five again . This is such a wonderful stamp set and can be used for almost any occasion. Since I don't own the Spellbinder dies that coordinate with these stamps I stamped and cut out the frame freehand then attached it to a doily which just happened to be laying on my desk ( the doily is CLD Nautical Wheel). The butterfly was also stamped and colored with copic markers and cut out freehand. I added some fake stitching around the edge of the pattern paper and stamped decorative corners in gold in each corner .To finish my card I punched a border on a strip of white c/s and added some Washi tape . I really like how the Washi tape made the border pop . I placed the doily a little above the top edge of the card . This was a fun and easy card to make .

Just Rite Friday Challenge #116 CAS

Well this was sure a challenge for me to make a Clean and Simple card , usually I love to layer and add embellishments on my cards . This is what I finally came up with for this weeks challenge over at Just Rite Stamps Friday Challenge. I used TH Damask embossing folder and my new embossing Diffuser plate to make the design around the image . The image and sentiment is from Just Rite Stamps Blacked Eyed Susan Vintage Labels Five set which was inked with Onyx Versafine ink. The flowers were colored with copic markers and a little glossy accents to the center of the flowers. To finish my card I added some May Arts Organiza ribbon.

Flowers were made from grunge paper and Tim's  Tattered Floral Die then colored with distress stains .I used the Translucent embossing paste for the script stencil and Modeling paste for the honeycomb. The Bicycle is a memory box die . The butterfly I had made sometime ago following one of Andrea Walford's  tutorials .

Just popping on here to post my tag I made for this months tag over at Tim's Tags for 2014. This month the tech . was focused on smudging . I'm not going into the details since you can fine it HERE . Can't say this is one of my favorite techniques but I'm happy with the result. I didn't have a spritzer so just sponged over the burlap stencil.

Frilly and Funkie; Valentine's Day -with a twist

Was just browsing the Frilly and Funkie blog today and saw that the challenge is Valentine's Day with a twist --we are to use red, pink and white colors but no "hearts" I thought why not give it a try and this is what I came up with . I sponged my manilla tag all over with DI Worn lipstick ,spritzed with water then  used my hexagon stencil for my background sponged with DI Festive Berries and Fired Brick. I stamped some tiny love words randomly in the hexagon spaces. Cupid was stamped and embossed with clear EP . I then made a mask of the cupid so I could stamp the Love definition  over it . To finish my tag I colored Seam Binding ( which I purchased from the Funkie Junkie store quite some time ago )  by pulling it over the worn lipstick ink pad and then spritzing with water and drying with my heat tool . I added some of Tim's rose ribbon trimmings to the bottom as well as a key from my stash .

Tim's Tags 2014 --Feb.

Just a quick post to share my tag I made for Tim's tags 2014 . Again I didn't have all the stuff that Tim used so had to improvise . I made my stencil of hearts with my Cricut cart. Plantin Schoolhouse cut at 3/4in. Since I didn't have regular chaulk I embossed my verse with white EP and rubbed Stampin' Up white chaulk over it with my finger to get the chaulk board effect . The strip at  the bottom was made by embossing silver duct tape .The heart was cut from grungeboard , inked with Fired Brick DI and covered with glossey accents and then covered in red glitter. Once dry I inked the edge with Walnut DI. To finish my tag I added red ribbon and twine to the top.

Cheery Lynn Design Challenge #116 Sweethearts

Evening bloggers just wanted to post a little box I made to enter in the challenge over at CLD this week . This week it's all about sweethearts&love. I've admired these little Origami Boxes for some time now so decided to try making one . I saw a video tutorial over on Sandi Mclean's blog  that she had made . I used K&C pattern papers(since I own tons of it) to create my box . It was pretty cool to see how this was created with just folding the paper. For my lid I used spellbinders scalloped square and then layered it with CLD Italian doily ,flowers were made with spellbinders blossoms one. I decorated the box with MS heart punch , CLD Sophia's Heart Border B333.I then finished it off with hearts cut from glitter c/s ,red gems and red organza ribbon . I will be getting this to someone special filled with candy on Valentines Day.

2014 Tim's Tags

This is just going to be a quick post. My 3 sons got together and gave me a ipad mini for Christmas so tonight i decided to see if I could post to my blog with it . I had some scraps left from making my previous tag for Tim's 2014 Tags so decided to use them for another tag . Here's what I came up with.

Well couldn't figure out how to link my photo so now back to the computer LOL

The globe was cut from the Cricut Cart. Going Place ,background and plane was stamped with various stamps from TH stamp set --The Journey. The clock is a sticker which I layered on a silver scallop circle. I added a pleated fringe from tissue wrap along the bottom of my tag .

Tim's Tags 2014 (January tag)

Well here I go again last year I started off with January's tag and intended to do all 12 but never did so this year I thought I'd try again . So here's my tag for January . Had to improvise a lot since I don't have many steampunk or clock works dies . So to make my clock face I used foil wrap that you would use for wrapping pipes or to seal around a heating system the backing peels off and it's quite sticky. I attached it to a piece of grunge board and them cut 2 different size circles , the center of the smaller circle I stamped  a clock face in black archival ink and embossed with clear embossing powder since I didn't have a clock or gears embossing folder. I then sponged with black archival ink since I didn't have distress paint and I couldn't get the effect I wanted with the stains or black dabber acrylic paint.  The tag was sponged with Pumice Stone DI and spritzed with water . I discovered I did have the large clock masks that I'd had for years and  used for the background . The numbers along the edge where stamped in black and embossed with clear EP then sanded to rough them up a bit . I hand wrote the month and year for my charm tag and attached with jump ring and pin to a the ribbon . To complete my tag I attached 3 words from the chit chat words to the edge with Tim's stapler .
I really enjoyed making this tag but now realize that I need to invest in some of the distress paints .
