Altered Box

I've been seeing some many altered things in blogland recently I decided to give it a try . I picked up this box quite some time ago and it was just sitting there in my craft room so I pulled it out and started in . Not sure if I can remember all the steps I did but will try my best . First I removed the hardware and gave the box a coat of Mod Podge then added some cheesecloth and painted over it with white acrylic paint. Next I added modelling paste over TH's Burlap stencil . I set it aside to dry . Once dry I sprayed with  a mixture of broken china DI, victorian velvet DI,and dusty concord until I got the shade I wanted . I added some gold dabber paint over some of the areas for shine . The flowers I made using spellbinders rose die ,burlap heart was cut freehand , and the sentiment was already precut chipboard that I had in my stash. The flowers were placed on TH trellis and one of Tim's key was added to finish my box.
Since one of my friends Birthday was coming up I decided this would be a perfect gift for her since she's a crafter too . Hope she likes it .

I'm entering  this in the following challenges:

Through the purple haze #76 AG
That craft place AG
Party time Tuesday #196 AG

Marilyn: you are the most thoughtful friend to give me this for my birthday. What a lot of work, and so many details and textures on it. It has a place of honour on my bedroom dresser. Also really like the chocolate soap that was inside the box. Thanks so much, Love and Hugs, Sharon

I like anything with "live love laugh" and boxes! So I guess I need to take a lesson or two on this mixed media! Thank you for inspiring!
